Yityish Aynaw, an immigrant orphan from Ethiopia, became the first black Miss Israel.
The 22-year-old was born in a small town in Gondar in Ethiopia.

“For people from my country of origin it is a source of great pride,” she says of her new title. “Sometimes the discrimination is under the surface. Most Israelis say they love the Ethiopian community, but there are still problems,” she says.
Shortly after winning the title, Aynaw named assassinated US civil rights leader Martin Luther King as one of her heroes: “He fought for justice and equality, and that’s one of the reasons I’m here: I want to show that my community has many beautiful qualities that aren’t always represented in the media.”

Obama, she said, has had a “notable influence in her life”.
She said it would be an honor to represent Israel on the international stage, and that she thought it would reflect well on Israel to have an Ethiopian-born beauty queen.”
Yityish has Miss World written all over her face, we wish her all the best in her quest to become Israel’s 2nd Miss World.
