Racism In America A Long And Ugly History
Racism is defined in the dictionary as: the belief that races have distinctive cultural characteristics determined by hereditary factors and that this endows some races with an intrinsic superiority over others.
Black people cannot be racist. Racism mean group based power relationship. Where one group owns and controls so much that they can use their power to injure or deprive another group. Blacks can only be reactionaries.
Prior to 1619 no such thing existed such as racism; this is before black slavery. Blacks were brought here as endentured servants.
In 1638 the state of Maryland issued the first public edict that started racism against blacks in America – it was called the Doctrine of Exclusion.
1638 Maryland Doctrine of Exclusion
The Maryland Doctrine of Exclusion was collectively written by the Maryland Colony Council in 1638, and states the following, “Neither the existing black population, their descendents, nor any other blacks shall be permitted to enjoy the fruits of White society.” The doctrine was written to insure that Blacks would remain a “subordinate, non-competitive, non-compensated workforce.”
Look up the Slavery Law of 1665 (which stayed in effect until 1968) and the Maryland Doctrine of Exclusion (1638): both laws state that Blacks must be excluded from the benefits afforded whites and that Blacks must remain Non-competitive with whites, except in sports and entertainment.
While many would argue that racism in America was abated with the election of Barack Obama as the nations first African American President; the reality of racism in America is ever present if you are not white.
